Lumos’ Survey Division has successfully delivered thousands of topographic, boundary, right-of-way, and construction staking projects. Our survey crews utilize advanced GNSS receivers, robotic total stations, and 3D scanners to complete projects efficiently and with precision.

Our Survey Division plays a pivotal role in supporting architectural, civil, and structural engineering design projects by providing meticulous boundary and topographic surveys. Through the seamless integration of both traditional and advanced surveying technologies, our survey staff approaches each project with a strategic plan to collect the right amount of data for a comprehensive deliverable.

In addition to these services, Lumos offers comprehensive, in-house aerial photogrammetry services, ensuring a full-service approach to meet our clients’ diverse surveying needs.

Carson Tahoe Health

Lumos & Associates was contracted by Carson Tahoe Health to prepare and submit a FEMA Conditional Letter of Map Revision (CLOMR) application for improvements along Eagle Valley Creek, located in Carson City, Nevada. Our team provided an as-built topographic survey for the floodplain hydraulic modeling and hydrologic analysis of Eagle Valley Creek to determine inundation boundaries for 100 and 500-year storm events.

South Lake Tahoe Public Utility Station (STPUD) Bijou Lift Station

STPUD was in need of a survey of their oldest lift station to determine whether a retrofit could be done to meet current demands or if a complete replacement was warranted. The lift station is located in a congested parking lot with a challenging property line and easement locations, requiring a well thought out approach to efficiently and safely collect the necessary data.
Marlette Lake Dam Rehabilitation

This earthen dam is part of the historic Marlette Lake Water System, located 1 mile east of Lake Tahoe within Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park and within the Lake Tahoe Basin. Lumos has been working with Nevada State Public Works Department since 2014 on a variety of design, planning, and permitting efforts to restore this system.

North Tahoe Pipeline Replacement Project, Phases 1-3

Lumos was contracted to provide a design survey and construction surveying services for a 10-mile-long utility pipeline. This pipeline is along Highway 28 and follows the north shore of Lake Tahoe. The design survey was for the full width of Caltrans Right of Way (ROW) of Phases 2 and 3, and to locate utilities and ROW for Phase 1.
Kingsbury General Improvement District (KGID) On-Call GIS Support

Lumos is currently serving KGID with their infrastructure and asset management through GIS mapping and data management services. Our role for project is to obtain geospatial data of their assets dating from 2015 to present; cleaning up data, maintaining file geodatabases of assets, maintaining ArcGIS Online organization, integrating GIS data into their Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and utilizing ArcGIS Apps for collecting field data.

Greg Phillips, P.L.S., WRS - Surveying Director

Greg has over 33 years of surveying and mapping experience, with his last 24 occurring throughout northern Nevada and California. He has extensive experience in both public works and private survey projects and is currently serving as the County Surveyor for Eureka County, Nevada.

Greg provides review for parcel maps, division of large parcels, revisionary maps, subdivision plats, and certificates of amendment all in accordance with Nevada Revised Statutes and county codes.

He continuously strives to advance the profession of land surveying and is actively involved with the Nevada Association of Land Surveyors and California Land Surveyors Association. Greg is currently serving as the Nevada Delegate for the Western Federation of Professional Surveyors.
