Mathewson Gateway Pedestrian Bridge

Mathewson Gateway Project, University of Nevada, Reno

Reno, Nevada

The University of Nevada, Reno, acquired 17 properties and planned what is now the Mathewson University Gateway District. This project includes a new seven-story Gateway Parking Complex and pedestrian bridge, and a 125,000 square foot College of Business building facility. Lumos & Associates partnered with LMN Architects to provide civil design services for this vibrant expansion.

For the Gateway Parking Complex, Lumos provided site civil design for an 811-parking space parking garage including adjacent walkways and roadway improvements. The project also included the design of EV charging stations, carpool spaces, ADA parking, and short-term parking. Key to this project was the inclusion of a pedestrian bridge across a busy roadway immediately adjacent to the UNR Campus. The Gateway Parking Complex, along with the pedestrian bridge, was completed in January of 2023.

Lumos is currently working on the design of the new College of Business facility, a P3 (Public Private Partnership) project. Because construction of this project will be phased, Lumos has completed the design of preliminary site work needed to support the building foundation and shoring plan. Construction of this phase is currently underway with the design of final site improvements, including all sidewalks, ADA access, courtyards, adjacent parking facilities, water, sanitary sewer, and storm drain utilities. Surface improvements are expected to be complete by 2025.
