He joined Lumos in 2023 and was promoted to Director of Engineering in 2024. Dan became a Partner later that year and joined the Lumos Board of Directors in 2025. His leadership is grounded in a deep understanding of how technical excellence, transparent communication, and thoughtful planning shape successful projects and strong teams.
Dan has worked in the civil engineering field since 2006, building a career that spans both municipal leadership and private-sector consulting across the Western United States. Before joining Lumos, he served as City Engineer and Deputy Public Works Director for Carson City, Nevada, where he helped lead major citywide initiatives, including the development of the City’s first drainage manual and LID standards, completion of multiple Area Drainage Master Plans, utility rate adjustments, and the advancement of asset management programs focused on data-supported decisions. In this role, he also oversaw the revitalization of Downtown Carson City through multiple streetscape projects and the citywide implementation of major Complete Streets improvements.
Earlier in his career, Dan worked extensively in water resources engineering, managing and providing technical leadership on projects involving hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, storm drain and utility infrastructure design, erosion control and water quality improvements, and capital improvement planning for public agencies. His ability to bridge technical depth with practical implementation has made him a trusted partner to both communities and project teams.
With nearly two decades of experience and a leadership approach grounded in collaboration, clarity, and long-term thinking, Dan helps guide the Lumos vision and strengthen our impact across the region.
Dan and his wife, Ashley, met at the University of Kansas, where they were student-athletes on the baseball and track and field teams, respectively. They have called Northern Nevada home since 2006 and enjoy taking advantage of the region’s incredible outdoor amenities. In his free time, Dan enjoys traveling, playing guitar, hiking, skiing, and making the most of family adventures with his wife and their two daughters.
