Lumos performed Professional Engineering Services as a subconsultant to HDR Inc., for the Truckee River Flood Management Authority (TRFMA) Local Interest Plan with the purpose of designing, constructing, financing, managing, operating and controlling a project that will regulate, control, reduce and/or mitigate flooding of the Truckee River and its tributaries.
The Local Interest Plan was prepared to determine the most suitable method of flood risk management for a 100 year storm event or 1% annual chance of an exceedance flood event for the Truckee River. Work included preparing a feasibility study and an Environmental Impact Study to address flooding problems in detail; investigate an array of associated alternative plans for the purpose of flood risk management and the associated ecosystem restoration; identify the Federal interest in an implementation project. Lumos’role was to actively design approximately 35 miles of river segments beginning North of the Keystone Avenue Bridge in West Reno continuing East to the Lower Truckee River near Wadsworth. Tasks for Lumos included providing hydraulic sectioning along each river segment, designing levee alignments and heights and calculating impact costs versus benefit rations.
