Lumos provided full administration of this $10.5 million dollar mill and overlay contract. This project involvedthe rehabilitation of a 14.7-mile stretch of I-80 from 0.9 miles west of the McCarran Scenic Overlook to 1.4 miles east of the Painted Rock Interchange.
Lumos’ attention to stakeholder concerns proved invaluable as Lumos worked to complete this project on a very busy stretch of the I-80 corridor with as little interruption and traffic delays as possible. Delays of commerce to and from Amazon.com’s warehouse in Fernley and the multiple distributions centers that included Wal-Mart located off of USA Parkway were unacceptable and managed directly with daily contact with the logistic managers to coordinate and manage any impacts due to the construction activities. Lumos also had to work around shift changes at NV Energy’s Tracy Power Plant during construction.
High volumes of plantmix necessitated good testing protocols so that any failures would be known prior to entering the next sampling cycle. Results were made available right away but decisions for corrections were based on trends visualized on spreadsheets – not individual results. Lumos’ experience and knowledge of NDOT procedures made the project closeout and FHWA acceptance painless and quick.
