Phase I (Preliminary Engineering Report)
Lumos & Associates Inc. (Lumos) provided an amended Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) for compliance of the new arsenic rule for the Town of Goldfield’s water sources with best arsenic compliance strategies. The project involved assessing non-treatment and treatment alternatives, characterization of the water quality for selecting viable treatment technologies, and pilot testing of several water treatment technologies. The PER was submitted with funding applications to both State and Federal Funding Agencies and received funding from three Agencies (CDBG, USDA RD, SRF).
Phase II (Procurement Contract for Treatment Vendor & Facility Design)
Lumos developed a set of specifications and contract documents in an RFP to contract a treatment vendor to work with in the design of a new arsenic treatment facility. The procurement contract was setup to be assumed by the prime contractor once the project is awarded. The treatment vendor was required to supply the treatment equipment to the prime contractor for installation and startup.
Phase III (Construction of Arsenic Treatment Facility)
Lumos provided a complete arsenic treatment facility through survey, base mapping, civil design, permitting, construction administration, quality assurance, inspection, testing, and startup of this water treatment facility. This project included 2000 feet of new 8-inch diameter distribution mains to convey the raw water directly to the treatment facility for treatment and storage. It also included a backwash facility to allow for backwash water to be recycled back into the treatment facility, reducing water loss.
