After a severe August 2006 thunderstorm in Eureka, Lumos, as County Engineer, assisted the Nevada Emergency Management Agency to assess damage to personal and public infrastructure. Subsequently, Lumos conducted a capacity study of Eureka Canyon Creek’s six dilapidated, varying-in-size culvert/bridge crossings. In 2008, Lumos provided permitting, surveying, design, construction management, and testing to replace two of six culverts with new cast-in-place 4’x12’ reinforced concrete boxes (RCB’s), and designed three more 4’x12’ reinforced concrete boxes that were constructed in the 2009 construction season. Between 2010 and 2011 an additional six culverts were replaced or constructed to complete the Canyon Creek Culvert Replacement Project. Total linear footage was 893 feet of 4’ x 12’ RCB and 210 feet of 10’ x 12’ RCB.
