Growing our company and engineering a plan are synonymous.
They both start with lunch (or, a bike ride, or a run.)

Lumos & Associates was formed in 1978 when Paul Lumos hired
his first staff. A year later, the company celebrated it's anniversary with a picnic lunch
and golf outing—a tradition that continues today. Paul Lumos understood the
importance of balance between work and play.

Fast forward through several successful projects and picnics to the year 2000 when Paul Lumos retired.
In just over a decade, the company had opened three additional offices—Reno, Carson City and Fallon—and
added construction and laboratory testing services. Not to mention a corporate ski team and an annual Ski Day.
Following the vision of Paul Lumos, who remained on the Board until 2005, the firm combined work with family
and fun before other companies had ever uttered the phrase “Work/Life balance.“

The next decade heralded projects such as opening the Chico office and
Randall Long's appointment and first term as a board member of the Nevada State
Board of Engineers & Land Surveyors. There were more picnics (now including mountain biking),
the creation of a Sno-ball team and a Bike to Work Week Corporate Challenge, plus the opening
of the South Lake Tahoe branch (with lunch-time ski runs limited to three by the CEO).

Bike to Work Week is a corporate challenge that continues to this day.
And during this third decade, Chas Macquarie announced that he would step down
as CEO, while Craig Wesner was appointed CEO and Randall Long, COO.

Buzz Fitzpatrick retired after 24 years.

The Flume Trail Ride for clients started with 15 people and has grown to more than 55 participants.
And the Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest in 2012 provided everyone with an excuse to wear an underused fashion
mistake. It is during this time that Lumos team members also participated in a Strategic Planning
Retreat in an effort to proactively shape the future of Lumos. The result was a restructuring of some offices
and a singular vision for the success of the next 30+ years.
